The base is large, yes, and it does require frequent replacement of batteries to activate the sounds. But this is still a good toy with sounds that are quieter than other toys and it offers some good, simple fun for children ages three and under. It bounces, turns and plays music. It helps with balance and has given her hours of fun! Highly recommend.

Bounce Spin Zebra
Another great benefit of this toy, is that when the child is not sitting on it, the zebra is locked and does not turn or bounce, allowing the child to get on with ease (and decreasing the chance of falling). So when my son grabs the orange handle to get on, it doesn't move. Once he is sitting on the Zebra, the animal can move up and down, and also can turn 360 degrees. I have had no issues with tipping and my son has not fallen off of it even one time.
An interesting thing to note is that, as much as most kids like to hear sounds when they play, the sounds on this toy don't seem to matter very much to my girls. Even when the sounds are turned off completely, they still like bouncing and swaying on the Fisher Price Bounce and Spin Zebra.
Actually, the sounds are not that loud and on the lower volume setting, they are more than tolerable. But I like that I can turn the sounds off completely and my girls will still play with the toy. With other electronic toys, once the sound is turned off, they become bored and toss it aside. But the physical aspects of the Fisher Price Bounce and Spin Zebra keep them coming back.
